On July 21, 2025, the courtyard of the presidential palace in Ouagadougou came alive with chants of the national anthem in Mooré, the rhythm of young voices rising with pride. It was the closing highlight of the Faso Mêbo Holiday Camp, a new initiative launched under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

For ten days, more than 400 young Burkinabè had gathered at Lycée Marien N’Gouabi, where they engaged in an intensive program designed to blend learning, discipline, and community service. The camp culminated in a symbolic ceremony presided over by the President himself, alongside their patron, Colonel Ismaël Diaouari.

A Mission from the President

Addressing the campers, President Traoré delivered a message that resonated deeply:

The President’s words underscored the vision behind Faso Mêbo: preparing a new generation to take ownership of their nation’s destiny.

Values of Solidarity and Humility

The camp’s activities extended beyond physical training. Young participants learned civic and military education, eco-citizenship, respect for public goods, and the importance of community living. Simple practices such as eating from the same dish or sitting on the ground together were highlighted as powerful lessons in solidarity and humility.

“Over these ten days, you have learned to live together and to support one another. That is what our Burkina Faso needs most,” President Traoré reminded them.

Practical Achievements

The impact of the camp was not only symbolic but also tangible. Under the coordination of Commander Ahmed Zoodnoma Sakandé, the young participants planted a grove of fruit trees, paved a 300 m² parade ground, constructed benches, and produced artworks. These contributions left lasting marks on the site that hosted them, serving both as practical improvements and as reminders of their commitment.

Preparing Citizens for Tomorrow

By combining civic responsibility, creative expression, and service to the community, Faso Mêbo sets out to nurture integrity and leadership in Burkinabè youth. It reflects an understanding that nation-building begins with the values instilled in its future citizens.

As the first cohort of campers raised the national colors in the presence of the Head of State, the symbolism was unmistakable: the future of Burkina Faso is being placed firmly in the hands of its youth.
